‘Significant’ Magnitude 6.1 Earthquake Hits Alaska

A significant earthquake has been reported in Alaska.

The 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit around 45 miles north of Chickaloon in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake hit just before 11 p.m. local time on Sunday night. At least five smaller quakes took place in the same area over the next 30 minutes, according to the USGS.
