In 1902, a young girl named Lova Cline was born with an illness that left her unable to enjoy things that most children might. She was unable to move, and according to stories, the only object that she enjoyed was a tall dollhouse with clear windows that her father George had built for her. When Lova passed in 1908, she was buried and the dollhouse went with her to the grave, or so the story is told.
Some news articles speculate the dollhouse was built specifically for the grave, which was not an entirely uncommon style for the region. Regardless, Lova’s father had requested the dollhouse be destroyed at the death of himself and Lova’s mother but the community rallied to disinter Lova and move the dollhouse to where she is now buried with her parents.
