C. A. Nothnagle Log House on NRHP since April 23, 1976. On Swedesboro-Paulsboro Rd., Gibbstown, New Jersey. Built 1638, claims to be (perhaps) the oldest standing wooden structure in the Western hemisphere. Pretty old in any case. And yes the left (south) wall looks like it is about to fall down, even more so in person than in the picture.

Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of modern New Jersey lies a hidden gem that defies time itself: the C. A. Nothnagle Log House. Picture this,  a rustic log cabin, standing proudly in the heart of a suburban neighborhood, like a historical time capsule plunked right in your backyard.

Built around 1638, this house has seen it all—it is the oldest standing log cabin in the good United States.
