Maridon Museum in Butler, Pennsylvania

Maridon Museum

The Maridon Museum was founded and endowed by Mary Hulton Phillips, a local philanthropist and art collector in 2004.

The museum features four galleries. The front gallery contains a collection of ornate jade and ivory sculptures, the largest of which measures more than four feet tall. On opposite walls are Chinese paintings—one being a landscape painting on silk from the mid-17th century that faces opposite a set of six large scrolls created in 2002 by contemporary Chinese artist Wan Qinqli. The collection of Asian art continues through the side and rear galleries.

The fourth gallery, Meissen Gallery, contains Philip's extensive collection of Meissen porcelain. The earliest pieces date back to 1713.

Visitors can wander the galleries or ask a docent for a free tour.
