Rundfunkmuseum Cham is a museum with a large collection of historic radio and TV sets in a former telecommunication office. It opened in 2017.
The museum has two unique features: It has its own medium-wave transmitter, a unit of the last medium-wave broadcasting transmitter of the Bavarian Broadcasting Company in Ismaning, which was shut down in 2015. And mounted on the roof is a broadcasting antenna, a 12-meter mast radiator, which transmits historic songs on 801 kHz during the museum's open hours.
The antenna is insulated against ground and is a replica of the last medium-wave broadcasting mast of the Ismaning transmitter, which was demolished in 2017.
There are also demonstrations of physics using high voltage, high currents, and other stuff. Videos of these online include a singing electric arc and the destruction of a glass with sound waves.
