Smallcombe Garden Cemetery in Widcombe, England

A quaint, beautiful and hidden gem of cemetery hidden in plain sight only 20 minutes walk from Bath Spa train station. It opened in 1856 but has been closed to new burials since 1988.

Walks lead you rambling around gravestones, some eerily overgrown, with fascinating stories attached.

There are two small chapels, both in a state of disrepair, which adds to the charm.

Buried in the cemetery are several notable locals including the man who discovered the Roman baths in the town and Frederic Weatherly, who wrote the words to the famous song “Danny Boy.” These graves are marked on a plan and easily found.
